Sending notifications to your students
Write a short announcement and it lands in the student's portal and on their phone.
- Go to Courses › Student Notifications.
- To: all your students or the students of a single course.
- Write a short title and a message of up to 300 characters. The first two lines show on a phone; put the date, time, and what to do up front.
- First press Send myself a test; the notification lands in your own account. Then confirm with Send to students.
The announcement appears in the notifications in the student's portal. It also reaches the phone of students who use the mobile app and haven't turned off the “Promotions and announcements” notification. You can send at most 5 announcements per day; the ones you sent are listed on the same page.
TipFor longer explanations, an email announcement is more suitable; use notifications for short, time-sensitive news such as “live class tomorrow at 8:30 PM.”
