Telegram: announcements, reminders, and a private group for buyers

Settings › Integrations › Telegram is where you connect your own Telegram bot. Messages go out from your bot, in your name; the bot only works in the groups and channels you add it to.

Connect your bot

1. In Telegram, open a chat with @BotFather and type /newbot; give your bot a name and a username ending in _bot.
2. Paste the token BotFather gives you (123456789:AA…) into the box on the Telegram screen and click Verify and connect. The token is stored encrypted and never shown again.
3. In Telegram, open your group or channel › Administrators › add your bot as an administrator. As soon as you add it, the group appears automatically in the Groups and channels list on the screen (refresh the page).

You give each group a role: Announcements and reminders or Private group for buyers. The Test button on a row sends a test message to that group.

Send an announcement

Type your text in the Send announcement box, choose which groups or channels it goes to, and click Send. Announcements go only to the groups and channels you added; no one is messaged individually. You can send up to 20 announcements an hour.

Private group for buyers

To bring people who buy a course or program into a private Telegram group:

1. Set the group's role to Private group for buyers and choose the product (or, while editing the course, pick the group in the Course details › Private Telegram group for buyers box).
2. Your bot must be an administrator in the group, with the add users / invite via link permission turned on.

When the product is sold, the buyer gets an email with a single-use invite link valid for 7 days. No one else can use the link. Who joined and who was sent an invite appear in the Private group invites list; for an invite that expired or couldn't be sent, click Resend.

Automatic messages

• Webinar reminder: if on, about 1 hour before a webinar starts, a message with the registration link goes to groups with the “Announcements and reminders” role.
• Appointment notification (to you): if on, a short note lands in your own Telegram 24 hours and 1 hour before an appointment. To set this up, click Connect my own Telegram and tap START in the chat that opens (the link is valid for 30 minutes). Your customer doesn't get a Telegram message.
• Automation: in an automation rule, choose Send a Telegram message: when a sale, a form response, or a signup comes in, a message goes to the group you chose or to your own chat. In the message, {{ad}} becomes the person's name and {{urun}} the product they bought.

You can remove the connection at any time with Disconnect; the bot doesn't leave your Telegram groups on its own. Only the account owner can use this screen. The sending log is kept for 90 days.
